So my two youngest kids (aged 2 and 4 at the time) are taking their bath together while I supervise (you would think that supervising would come easier than actually bathing them myself, think again!). The younger of the two has a knack for often offering unsolicited help. Tonight wasn’t an exception. She offers to help scrub the older one’s back since his hands couldn’t quite reach. Of course he said no but she wouldn’t hear of it – you know that kind of help and doting that you can’t refuse.
Well, he gave in to her since he knew by experience that she would not budge anyways. With one of the widest grins ever, she gladly helps him scrub his back and thought to use a bowl of water to rinse the soapy lather off when she mistakenly hits his back with the bowl. “oh-oh! That was painful, her brother yelled at her”. For what seemed like several seconds, my mind raced. I was quickly preparing myself for the battle that will ensue between them both. Then she jolted me back with those words: I am sorry, I’ll be more careful next time. And like a fuse, they both smiled at one another and did what they would typically do – start a messy water fight amidst lots of laughter! Need I say I had my work cut out for me cause I had a lot of cleaning up to do afterwards; and some meditating too!
