I know a woman, whose words are filled with wisdom

She always looks for opportunities to bless some other
She has an amazing heart and such noble character
She is my mother

I know a lady – sacrificial, intelligent and sweet to say the least
Her love endures the times; her respect knows no bounds
She is my sister

I know a young damsel. She sometimes gets anxious and unsure of what to do
Not knowing that she is a hero or someone others would call friend
Her beauty radiates like the sun; she is God’s precious gift to the world
She is my daughter

I know a woman, who stays through thick and thin
She’s unafraid to shine her light
She’d cheer you on in the darkest night
She is my friend

Now I am Proud to be me
I do have folks I admire
But I’d rather still be me

…those are lyrics to a song I wrote about two decades ago
And the words still hold true
I thought to share with you.

Being a woman is one of the greatest gifts
Far beyond the many roles – daughter, sibling, wife, mother, friend, business owner, employer, employee etcetera

I am grateful for the beauty of my anatomy and the uniqueness of my physiology
I am in awe of the workings of my mind and the complexities of my psychology
I am in admiration of the wonder of my BEING and be-ing (i.e. becoming)

Oh I am HUMAN!
I am more self-aware than I have ever been

I am intelligent. I am thoughtful and kind.
I am a lover and a friend.
More intentional, thankful, full of gratitude, hopeful and resolute in my convictions

For you see the seemingly little decisions we make today
Often last for all eternity
While we may not always be proud of the choices and decisions of the past
We will do well to focus on our daily thoughts and actions; creating habits that will forge a brighter path

Today, I celebrate all the women of the world
The ones who build and do not destroy
She does not have to be someone’s helpmeet
To be a nurturer and trusted friend

I celebrate the ones who realize that they have been blessed to build
I celebrate the WONDER called WOMAN.
