There’s a lot to love about the world, don’t you think?!
In spite of the disagreements, headiness, ranchors and wars that threaten our humanity, our humaneness, you and I are recipients of thoughts, words and acts of kindness. So yes, you’ve sown seeds of kindness in uncountable measures too and typically it appears that you should reap. So have countless other people who are not “lucky” to reap kindness or peace. That’s a reminder to be grateful, don’t you think?!
What’s it with me and kindness these last few hours/days bah?! I truly didn’t have it planned to create a theme out of it. I still don’t plan to, but I can’t help sharing. I can’t help reminding us, of the need to be kind, JUST BECAUSE.
I have been under the weather for some days but life must go on: promises must be kept, tasks accomplished.
I asked for help with getting fuel and a few very kind people responded, with thoughtful suggestions here and there.
At the filling station yesterday, a young lady whom I have never met before also came to buy fuel at the same station. She went for me. She ensured that I was attended to, asking nothing in return. It felt ridiculous. Isn’t that what angels do?! . I parted with no money. I exchanged nothing for the favour and unwarranted kindness that she showered me, other than my phone number. A relationship was/has been birthed.
I went on to enjoy more episodes of kindness in the hours that followed.
I must confess: it felt sooooo good to be a recipient of someone’s else’s thoughtfulness and kindness. If ever I had a doubt (I never have) about the import and impact of my seemingly uncontrollable urge to be kind, thoughtful and giving, yesterday was God and the Universe’s way of reinforcing my beliefs.
Today, I challenge you: Despite the many reasons to be selfish and irritable, please find one reason to be kind, just because.
